Risky Day Ahead for Already Low Mortgage Rates

After a series of gains that brought mortgage rates back within striking distance of all time lows, things have worsened just slightly today. The losses were fairly contained and in many cases, best execution may not have changed for you, simply the closing costs required to get the rate. Today's Rates: BESTEXECUTION 30YR FIXED - 3.875-4.125%, mostly 4.0% FHA/VA - 3.75-3.875% 15 YEAR FIXED - 3.375%, still some 3.5's 5 YEAR ARMS - low 3% range, huge variations from lender to lender. No one said mortgage servicing (or lending) would be any fun. The Las Vegas City Council, on the 15 th , will consider a proposal that would make lenders responsible for the maintenance of vacant properties in default or foreclosure, or else face possible fines or jail time . It would force a mortgagee to inspect properties in pending or actual default and, if vacant, register them with the city for $200. The mortgagee would have to then designate a manager to keep up the vacant property. The problem...
