Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that it will begin the orderly wind down of its remaining portfolio of $142 billion in agency-guaranteed mortgage-backed securities (MBS). Freddie Mac is now publishing YouTube videos to share information with the public about foreclosure myths and scams. In each video a housing consumer presents a myth which a Freddie Mac housing counselor then responds to with facts and concrete guidance. In the third video for example, the counselor tells a borrower that one late payment will not trigger a foreclosure.
